Workplace Hack: Schedule Meetings in the Morning

An important meeting is a distraction, both leading up to the meeting and in the time afterward while everyone’s still going over it in their minds (or around the water cooler). Schedule important meetings for mornings so your team doesn’t lose the hours before the meeting to unproductive split focus.

A big meeting splits the morning into two chunks of time, neither of which is quite long enough to tackle anything taxing, so you can see why first thing in the morning works better than mid-morning. And your team will have time to gossip during their morning coffee break! But, be warned, FOLLOW an agenda and watch the time. Make sure you are always on track.

When do you schedule your important meetings?

This hack is part of a series of weekly workplace hacks that teaches you about collaboration, productivity and time saving tips. Published every Wednesday.
