Hey, everybody loves caffeine, right? Whether it’s coffee, tea, or even hot chocolate, a little caffeine perk is what gets many employees through the day. Or so you thought… but science tells a different story.

That morning pick-me-up isn’t making you any more alert than usual. Instead, studies show that coffee drinkers merely get “back to normal” after their morning coffee. The reason it feels like a boost to your system is that you’re already suffering long-lasting withdrawal symptoms, including fatigue and lack of focus, from yesterday’s caffeine. Switch to decaf for even a few days and you’ll see a big difference.
