Contactzilla US Region with separate US and EU hosting infrastructure for organisations with data residency requirements.

Contactzilla is now available through a separate US-hosted region for organisations that need their Contactzilla data to be hosted in the United States.

We introduced the new region after prospective customers told us they wanted to use Contactzilla but could not proceed while the service was hosted exclusively in Europe. For these organisations, US data residency was a requirement raised during procurement, legal or security review.

The new US region gives those organisations a separate hosting option without changing the existing Contactzilla EU platform.

  • Contactzilla now offers separate US and EU regions.
  • Organisations can choose the region that matches their data-hosting requirements.
  • New US accounts are created at contactzilla.us.
  • Existing EU accounts remain on the EU platform.
  • The US region includes a separate 14-day free trial.

Why we launched a US region

For many organisations, data-hosting location is part of the software approval process.

Our existing region is hosted in Ireland and remains available for organisations that require EU data residency or prefer to keep their Contactzilla data within the European Union.

The US region is intended for organisations whose legal, contractual or internal requirements call for their Contactzilla data to be hosted in the United States.

Hosting location is only one part of data protection compliance. Organisations subject to the EU GDPR, UK GDPR or other data protection laws should assess which region is appropriate for their processing activities and any applicable international data-transfer requirements.

IT, security, legal and procurement teams may need to know where customer data will be stored. Some organisations require US hosting because of internal policies, contracts or commitments to their own customers.

This prevented some prospective customers from using Contactzilla. They wanted to manage business contacts centrally and deploy them to employees’ native address books, but they could not proceed with an EU-hosted service.

We built the Contactzilla US region to meet that requirement.

US hosting does not replace an organisation’s own legal, security or procurement review. It gives organisations that require US data residency a separate Contactzilla region to assess and use.

Choosing your Contactzilla region

Contactzilla’s US and EU regions are separate platforms. Choose the region that meets your organisation’s data-hosting requirements.

  • US region: For organisations that need their Contactzilla data hosted in the United States. New accounts can be created at contactzilla.us.
  • EU region: For organisations that require European hosting or already use the existing EU platform.

The launch of the US region does not change or move existing EU accounts. Because the regions are separate, a US account must be created separately rather than enabled within an existing EU account.

Getting started with Contactzilla US

Contactzilla address book connected through a device connection and deployed to native Contacts apps on iPhone and Android.
Manage business contacts centrally in Contactzilla, create a device connection and deploy the address book to employees’ native iPhone and Android Contacts apps.

Organisations that need US hosting can register at contactzilla.us and start a new 14-day trial.

During the trial, you can create your team, set up shared address books and test Contactzilla with your organisation’s devices and deployment process.

Contactzilla lets you manage business contacts centrally and distribute them to the built-in Contacts apps on iPhone and Android. Address books can also be deployed to managed devices through MDM platforms including Microsoft Intune, Jamf and Workspace ONE.

If you need help choosing between the US and EU regions, contact us to discuss your hosting and deployment requirements.

Security and compliance

Our US infrastructure mirrors our EU infrastructure. The systems are completely isolated from each other and there is no shared data between them. This means separate web servers, separate database servers, separate block storage locations and separate backup locations. Our US infrastructure is currently under review as part of our latest SOC 2 compliance scope.

Can I move from EU to US or US to EU?

At present it’s not possible to automate this process. There is no link between the two environments.

If you want to migrate you can of course export your data from one environment and then import it into the other environment and our support team will be happy to assist you with this,
