“Eat a live frog first thing in the morning and nothing worse will happen to you the rest of the day.” - Mark Twain
This Workplace Hack comes from success coach Brian Tracy and is based on the Mark Twain quote above. The method, in it’s most basic form, involves getting your most dreaded task (eating a live frog) out the way first thing so you can rest assured that your day can’t possibly get any worse.
“If you have to eat a live frog at all, it doesn't pay to sit and look at it for very long” says Tracy.
Stop thinking about your dreaded task and just do it. You need to get into the habit of ‘eating your frog’ first thing every day without taking the time to worry about or dread it.
Tracy suggests that by making a daily routine of eating your frog you can “develop a “positive addiction” to endorphins and to the feeling of enhanced clarity, confidence, and competence that they trigger.” In other words, you’ll get a buzz from getting that dreaded task out of the way that you can ride on for the rest of the day.
